As you know from your experience as a school administrator, it is not practical to expect an everlasting benefit from an extended canine presence on campus for a full day. For this reason, SK9 does not subscribe to this practice. Though the canine team’s presence will definitely send a positive and dramatic message to your students, a full day deployment can also create a prolonged distraction from their studies. As you are well aware, communication within a student body on any given campus is the envy of all telecommunication companies throughout the country. By first nutrition or campus break, the entire school and most surrounding campuses will be aware of the searches taking place by the detection team(s). This in itself will act as a significant deterrent for possession of contraband throughout the district.
Subsequently SK9 recommends short unannounced, surprise inspections in four hour intervals. SK9 has experienced a high degree of success in locating concealed contraband by utilizing this technique. You and your campus staff would coordinate with SK9 and determine which days(s) and hours the inspections would have the most significant impact. SK9 would be deployed to your district on an as needed basis.

• SCENTURION K9 CONSULTING K9’s are trained and certified to detect the following odors: Smokeless powder & black powder, both are commonly used in constructing pipe bombs and /or other improvised devices as well as firearms, ammunition and fireworks. Narcotic odors detected include: Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, and Methamphetamine, their derivatives and associated paraphernalia.

  SCENTURION K9 CONSULTING (SK9) will provide the certified K9 detection teams to search and identify location(s) and sources of possible firearms and/or narcotics on school grounds. Areas to be searched are restricted to any buildings, lots (parking or vacant) or areas under the immediate jurisdiction and/or control of the Unified School District.
   

• A representative of the individual school or school district is to accompany the detection team(s) during the search. That individual will perform any and all subsequent actions after a K9 alert has been identified. SCENTURION K9 CONSULTING will not arrest or detain any individual(s) in regards to a K9 alert. SK9 will not transport or confiscate any contraband substances found.
• 
  All precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of students, staff, property and the environment. It is the school district’s responsibility to ensure that the area(s) searched are secured to prevent contraband from being placed in the cleared areas after a search by the K9 team is completed.
